Paint the Town – A new coat of paint can brighten a mood and change attitudes
67-year-old Darance Carter and her disabled sister have lived together for a long time in the Fairview neighborhood here in Anchorage. Known as a ‘giver’ Darance helps others more than she helps herself and that includes taking care of her sister. So, the group NeighborWorks Alaska wants to help her…paint her house! They have a program called, ‘Paint the Town’ and Darance was nominated by her neighbor as someone who gives and gives and could use a ‘little’ help with the upkeep on her home.
On Thursday July 11, 2024, 20 – GCI Employees descended on Darance’s house and painted it! Dave talks to the volunteers and folks at NeighborWorks Alaska on how and why they do this and get Darance’s reaction.
